Almost all cyber attacks start through email. These attacks can be greatly reduced through training of end users to be safe with email. The below tips may help;
Never assume you know the person who sent the mail. It may be someone impersonating someone else.
Never open email attachments unless they are specifically expected.
Never provide any passwords to anyone via email unless you verify by voice the request is legitimate. This includes your email password.
Never wire money to any employee without speaking with that person via telephone or in person. Be especially cautious opening compressed/zipped email attachments. Compressed and encrypted email attachments often cannot be scanned for malware/viruses. Encrypted attachments are those requiring a password to open. Be careful clicking on links in emails. Never click on a link in email that requires you to "sign in". Navigate to the sign in page yourself through the browser. When in doubt err on the side of caution.
